Recently, after the decision taken on the state budget, Goa's business community was expecting for an inducement to industrial development by improvising all the 24 industrial estates in the state. As the infrastructure in industrial estates was deteriorating rapidly, it was believed that the Government would provide sufficient funds for the development of the infrastructure. The President of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Mr. Sandip Bhandare held that the main reason for the recommendation is for the investment into the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) for the purpose of infrastructure. Meanwhile, GCCI had demanded the Government to entirely replace the rusting galvanized iron water pipes and also to install the required power infrastructure for the benefit of the industries.
The GCCI President stated that there was a need for capital investment for GIDC in order to put up the transformers and power lines. Added to that, there was also a requirement for Government funds for the purpose of improving the internet broadband connectivity. It was also brought to the notice that there needs to be an improvement in the quality of the education imparted in the state. Based on the recommendations for the budget, GCCI had asked the government to make good utilization of the money sought from infrastructure tax to set up and supply water and electricity for real estate projects.
