The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea by the Maharashtra government seeking demolition of buildings that are in a dilapidated condition in the state.
Maharashtra court sought for demolition of buildings that are in rickety condition in the state. The Supreme court will be hearing to the plea with a beach Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
The state will represented by Additional Solicitor General Atmaram Nadkarn. There was a recent breakout of about 100 years old building, which killed 11 people said the Additional Solicitor General. He also added that the civic buildings had declared such buildings unfit for stay or usage and should of be torn down. The matter is of serious as many people lives were at risk propounded the law officer.
For a cluster based based development of the rickety buildings a new law was proposed by Davandra Fadnavis, the CM of Maharashtra. On 17th July 2019, the Chief Minister issued orders in the review meeting issued orders to the legislative department to draft the seperate laws that will help in the development of the dilapidated buildings recognised as as MHADA (Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority )cessed structures in the metropolitan City.
