With regard to same Karnataka Government after the discussion has reached to a solution that the government will postpone the construction of new apartments in the city for next 5 years. It was stated by Deputy Chief Minister and Bangalore Development Minister Dr G Parameshwara that the proposal was put forth with an aim to resolve the issue of drinking water as the construction of apartment residents, especially in the cities suburbs, rely purely on tanker water for their drinking and domestic purpose.
Dr G Parameshwara stated that the city of Bengaluru had many apartment complexes and some ongoing projects. As the builders of the apartment controls construction and sale of the same without being concerned for the most important amenity of water supply hence the government thought of implementing ban for 5 years on construction and proposed the same.
While discussing the issue with media deputy CM of Karnataka stated that they can control use of tanker water resulted into some sufferings such as skin aliments and other health hazards to residents. Also it was stated by deputy CM that no such ban has been imposed yet earlier discussion will be done on this proposal with all builders and developers in coming week and then final decision will be taken.
The government’s proposal was put forth by taking into consideration the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Boards on going Cauvery Water Supply phase. The BWSSB’s project will be completed in the coming five year purpose is to provide drinking water to Suburban areas of Bangalore.
As per sources it came to knowledge that postponement of 5 years on ban construction will ensure that each and every household gets Cauvery Water connection but it will create chaos as new constructions is necessary to occupy the increasing population. Now it is very necessary to find out that developers come up with some solution to provide water for drinking and domestic purpose for 24 hours.
Concerned authority with regard to the proposal have started their work in preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Linganamakki project which aims at diverting water from Netravati river to Bangalore to Kolur and Chikkaballapur to meet drinking water requirements.
He also added that the Linganamakki proposal is being criticized and steps will be taken only after DPR is ready.
