In Nagpur, in the area of Central Government’s project Sports Authority of India’s (SAI), the anti-encroachment squad of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Metro Regional Development Authority (NMRDA) demolished six unauthorized buildings at Wathoda Tarodi Khurd.
The NMRDA had issued notices to 50 houses which were constructed on about 10 acre of total 141.5 acre allotted to SAI for developing its 12th regional centre. Before this notices were issued to 250 people who had their houses on that land.
Earlier it was reported that two developers unauthorizedly developed 2 layouts on about 20 acres of land and also sold plots before 10 years.
A final step was taken by joint committee of NMC and NMRDA by taking excavators along with them on the location on Saturday. Although residents protested, the team demolished six locked houses as stated by NMC’s enforcement inspector Sanjay Kamble.
The demolition process was supervised by Nehru Nagar zone’s assistant municipal commissioner Harish Raut and enforcement department’s assistant municipal commissioner Ashok Patil.
