In a drive held at Bareilly on Wednesday evening, BDA demolished nearly 12 recently completed residential flats and also 18 under-construction flats in Bara Bypass area.
It was brought to knowledge that the residential flats which were constructed or some were under-construction were illegally built near Bara bypass at Vishnu Dham colony and without permission of Authority.
The colony which was under-construction was declared illegal earlier and developers were made aware regarding application for permission as soon as possible, in spite of these builders continued to construct building illegally.
AK Singh, Secretary, BDA told, “Information was obtained by BDA through sources and later inspection was carried out in the area of Bara Bypass where unauthorized construction was being carried on. Also builders were informed to stop the development as it is violating the norms of BDA. For security in order to follow this order the area was also sealed for two months but the builders broke the seal and resumed the illegal construction.”
Further added by Mr. Singh, “It was necessary to take legal action as developers failed to show concern regarding the directions given by authority. Along with this building layout plan of nearly 30 residential flats was not approved and hence they were also demolished in this drive.”
To take this step was very important as authority served them timely notices. As per sources around 30 residential flats, construction of 12 was recently completed while remaining were under-construction and also 10 flats were already allotted to people, notice to vacate the flats was also served.
One of the officials BDA stated, “The demolition drive was stringently opposed by residents, but it was successfully accomplished by authority. BDA secretary, superintending engineers, executive engineers, assistant engineers, junior engineers and other staff members remained present during the drive. Police from Izzatnagar police station also remained deployed throughout the demolition exercise.”
