The Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni earlier this week knocked the doors of the Supreme Court seeking direction against Amrapali group for cheating. Dhoni moved to SC seeking possession of a penthouse in an amrapali project which he booked earlier in August, 2009. According to his lawyer "The embattled real estate group owes Rs 40 crore to the former cricket captain over his services to the group while acting as a brand ambassador." Dhoni was a brand ambassador of Amrapali group from 2009 to 2016 from which he resigned after charges of duping was imposed on the company by its customers.
The Court in its earlier hearing had directed for attachment of personal properties of company’s CMD including a bungalow in South Delhi. It had made clear that the properties of the other two directors would also be attached. Home-buyers of Amrapali group are seeking possession of around 42,000 flats booked in their projects.
The apex court in its scheduled hearing on April, 30th directed Amrapali group to reveal all their financial transactions with MS Dhoni by 1st May. Dhoni also pleaded for his name to be added in the list of creditors of Amrapali Group.
