Relief was finally granted to a man for a case which was going on for almost seventeen years. In the case his house had been pulled apart or demolished by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation in 2002. The victim in the said case came before the Hon’ble Rajasthan High Court and stated that the house was built on a land approved by the Jaipur Development Authority. The victim, P.C. Swami, an advocate by profession had approached the court after the demolition of his house in 2002. However, after an injury in 2007, Mr. Swami was unable to attend court, reported his counsel who fought the case for him.
The High Court on this petition held that the payment of Rs 10 lakh should be provided to the victim and the Jaipur Municipal Corporation was to pay for it. The Court also ordered the money to be recovered from the officer who was responsible for the demolition. The petition of Mr Swami also included the JDA’s lease deed along with the disclosure that some officials of the MJC had demanded for a bribe of Rs 15,000 or else the house would be demolished.
