Relief Given To Unregistered Property Owners

The owners of unregistered properties must register with the property tax department within 15 days as per the civic body’s directions. Shravan Hardikar, Pimpri Chinchwad municipal commissioner said that the property holders have also been directed to pay their taxes. On failure to pay their respective taxes on their property, the PCMC will recover and demolish the said property. He further added that they are taking measures to lie down and table the property tax and water tax for the new fiscal year before the general body. The increase in the rates of these taxes should be curbed by rationalising the property tax.

Inspection of these properties is to be done by the teams specially appointed for conducting random inspection of these properties and monitor the system. He noted that around 66,000 properties were found in the drive conducted in 2012 as unregistered and their assessment has almost been completed.
