The 12% collective property tax has been increased, which has been proposed by the Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao in Rs.6, 085 Cr draft civic budget for 2019-20 which was presented before the standing committee on Thursday.
The PMC budget for the first time it has crossed the Rs.6,000 mark the last year budget was 5,870 Cr it moved include hike in the property tax which is 5.5% rise general tax 1.5% in water benefit charges.

While delivery the speech the Municipal Commissioner Rao said- for the implementation the proposal is to be approved by the standing committee and general body and is applicable for cell phone tower companies IT & ITES companies. The Residents will also have to pay an additional 15% amount in water tax which is a past of 24x7 water supply project implementation and already been approved.
During the speech Rao said, civic body has limited sources of revenue these tax collection focus a major share. Commissioner Rao further said, these efforts are for the improvement in efficiency tax collection. There will be an increase in tax collection. We all focusing on the advancement of tax collection and recovery of pending taxes.
This is 3rd successive year that the administration has proposed a rise in the property tax last year's budget was Rs 5,870 Cr. There are activist who are fuming over the tax increase and called it unnecessary and saying that the civic administration and should overtake on recovery of tax dues, not increasing the unnecessary tax and put burden on tax payers.
