31st December Is The Last Day To Pay Property Tax

MC offices would witness huge rush on Monday since it’s the last day to pay property tax without penalty. The MC offices did not function on Saturday since they were occupied for the panchayat elections. After 1^ST January 2019 a penalty of 10% would be levied on the tax amount and the authorities have adviced to pay the amount in an online mode in order to avoid long queues. MC authorities have sent reminders to everyone regarding the last date of paying the taxes without penalty and have also promised lucky draw prizes for the people who would make online payment.

Since many staffs have been occupied with the panchayat elections they could not do field visits for collection and allocation of the taxes. Thus, MC officials were given a task of conducting the survey in order to check the people who had paid the desired tax amount. However, due to paucity of time the officials were unable to complete the survey.

MC officials mentioned that it is important for the residents to pay the desired tax amount and clear all their dues for their economic and social welfare. The official mentioned that heavy penalty would be imposed if the desired tax money would not be paid on time. One of the local residents had mentioned that it was the onus of the MC authorities to intimate the residents a week prior to the last date of the payment of the property tax. This way awareness would have been spread amongst the larger mass.
