Eminent diamond jeweller’s property worth Rs. 13 crore gets attached with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The factory has been established in Thailand and it is also significant to note that the owner of the factory has also readily been accused in the Rs 14,000 crore PNB fraud case.
It has been mentioned by the Enforcement Directorate that under the provisions of Prevention Of Money Laundering Act, a provisional order for attachment has been issued.
The Investigations carried under Prevention of Money Laundering Act catered to the fact that the company named Abbeycrest (Thailand) Limited which is the beneficiary of the Letters of Undertaking, had issued in an un-authorized manner from PNB in the lieu of Rs 92.3 crore.
In the due course of the investigation the property based in Thailand was duly identified and was then attached as mentioned by the Enforcement Directorate.
As mentioned by the ED the property is worth Rs 13.14 crore and posts its attachment the figures of the Punjab National Scam had sky-rocketed to Rs 4,765 crore.
The case is being probed under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as mentioned by the ED.
Official sources have revealed that issuance of Letters Rogatories which are known as judicial requests in order to get the legal sanction of the attachment of the property in Thailand. Nirav Modi, and Choksi are being tried under the provisions of criminal law.
