The Tamil Nadu Government had recently proclaimed that the public transport network in the state will undergo a massive and a comprehensive transformation. It had mentioned that it will introduce solar buses in the select cities.
It is because of the support of KfW which is a German based bilateral financing agency the Government has been able to embark on such a massive project as declared by the Governor Banwarilal Purohit during the commencement of first assembly session on January 2, 2019. With the initiation of this process the fuel efficient BS-VI buses and electric buses, the metro cities like Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai will be benefitted.

Operation of 21,000 buses ferrying 1.74 passengers per day and also mentioned the fact that the tariff rates in the country were the lowest despite several revisions in the ticket rates. The government had also absorbed the additional costs, which had taken place due to increase in diesel prices and an amount of Rs 268 crores was sanctioned inorder to meet the compensatory demands of the various corporations between January 2018 and October 2018, he said. “The establishment of industrial hubs for defence products in the Chennai-Vellore-Salem-Hosur- Coimbatore-Trichy corridor, will definitely improve the prospects of Tamil Nadu as a major defence manufacturing force,” said the Governor and had also mentioned that Tamil Nadu Aerospace and Defence Industrial Policy would be released soon by the Government inorder to support defence production and aerospace.
On the social front Government has planned to launch educational and finanacial schemes inorder to operate schools in the tribal areas, for which the Government has extended finanacial aid to various NGOs. This initiative has been taken inorder to improve the literacy rate of the state.
