Crop Loan Waiver In Dakshina Kannada Gives Property Card Applicants Breather Up To January 1

Focus of revenue department in Dakshina Kannada in completing the modalities pertaining to crop loan waiver in the district has come in handy for people applying for urban property ownership records (UPOR) aka property card. The card was to become the norm for registration of sale, gift or transfer of property in 32 villages in Mangaluru city corporation limits from December 1. This has since been extended to January 1, 2019.

In addition, there has also been request from the Mangaluru chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India to defer timeline given to make property card mandatory from December 1 and give some breathing space, the DC said. In addition, we are also bringing deemed conversion online in the UPOR areas. There will be no more issues of conversion of land in the UPOR areas and these changes needed time, he surmised. Department of stamps and registration has been undertaking city survey for the last 90-years, first under the Bombay Revenue Act and then under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act. Under the UPOR project, department is preparing ownership document in form 13 – which is also referred to as PR card. This card, incidentally is mistaken for the khata issued by city corporations, is form 13 of Karnataka Land Record Rules 1966 for urban properties.
