With a gross defaulted money of Rs 400 crore, MCG strengthened it’s stance on tax defaulters by deciding that snap water and sewage connections are to be snapped. The civic body will also recover the expenses from the defaulters during their proceedings on the residential properties. The decision was an outcome of a meeting chaired by the chief Yashpal Yadav on Saturday.The total recoverable amount in nearly 250 crore.
Several properties were overlooked the last year’s for tax purposes. For instance, around 40 banquet hall owes 9 crore rupees. Last year MCG had the highest collection of taxes. This year there are four allocated zona taxation officers who would draw up a list of all the properties that are required to pay taxes. Segregation would be made as to whether they are residential or commercial. The notices would be issued accordingly. In case of non payment of taxes, sealing of properties would take place. Meanwhile the officials concerned have been informed to settle the objections on properties by the end of this month. The e-auction of defaulted properties have started. Also matter of pending trade licenses also came up during a meeting also came up. According to the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act 1994 , the businesses within the municipal limits must have trade licenses. Most of the trade licenses have not been renewed.
