The Tamil Nadu Government allowed the details of the Aadhaar, which are obtained from the people visiting the Sub-registrar’s offices for the registration of property to be authenticated with the Central Servers which are maintained by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). However, the number could only be used after the consent of those executing the registrations. The government had made rules named, Tamil Nadu Registration Rules, 2018 for the said purpose.
It has been stated in the Rules that the registering officer has the power to examine persons whose identity has been verified through the Aadhaar service and can verify the same from the system of UIDAI, in order to satisfy himself about the identity of party. However, the details such as the identification number and thumb impressions are only obtained from those who prefer to provide them during the registration of land.
An amendment has been further brought for getting Iris scanning, where the other impressions of any other finger could not be obtained for countersign documents.
