Since the scam of Punjab National Bank broke out, MehulChoksi, the fugitive jeweller who was accused, had denied all allegations made against him by the Enforcement Directorate. The alleged scam of Rs. 14000 crore had the active participation of Nirav Modi and his uncle Choksi who had cheated the state run Punjab National Bank. Nirav Modi and his Uncle Choski has been absconding since January 2018. “All the accusations levelled by Enforcement Directorate are false and baseless”, said MehulChoksi on Tuesday via video conferencing. He was answering the questions posed on him by the news agency ANI.
He denied the Enforcement Directorate's allegation against him that claimed that he had set up shell companies to route out money. Choksi said that the Enforcement Directoratehas attached his property without there being any basis for the same. Choksi also said that his passport was revoked on February 16 that had rendered him immobile. He said that he had sent an email to the regional office of passport in Mumbai. The authorities did not clarify as to the reasons for the revocation and said that he was a threat to the country. The alleged fraud also reports that Foreign Letters of over 2 billion dollars cannot be accounted for at present.
