The number has only been increasing when it comes to cases of domestic violence and abandonment filed by spouses of NRIs against them when a woman from Nashik, Maharashtra filed for a divorce as well as a domestic violence case against her NRI husband from Sydney.
Therefore, the government is now working on an Act that can retract properties from Non Residential Indians who don't pay heat to summons by the Court. Many departments such as the Ministry of External Affairs and child and women development etc have been actively working towards the bill. Under the already existing provisions the summons will be communicated through the Ministry of External Affairs' portal.
Due to many atrocities committed by the husband, the woman from Nashik was forced to reach out for help from the MEA.
The husband got her visa cancelled when she had returned to India for her sister's wedding therefore she couldn't return back and was forced to file multiple cases against him in the High Court. When the sent out summons he refused to even attend to them and refused any contact with the Court.
The decision of the Court came after seven months of the woman filing the case. It was concluded that the bill must be acted upon as soon as possible, so that the Court can resolve all such cases once in for all.
