The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had postponed the launch of its new housing scheme until next year. This scheme was announced soon after housing scheme draw, held in November 2017.
Under the proposed scheme, DDA will put 21,000 flats in Narela, Dwarka, Rohini, Vasant Kunj and Jasola. The scheme has been put on hold due to incomplete civic services and infrastructure.
"Infrastructure is not ready where the new flats are sold. Basic facilities such as power and water supply are yet to be provided.
The new flats will have spacious bedrooms and various facilities such rain water harvesting units and mutli level parking facility. These flats will also be earthquake resistant and can survive a jolt of magnitude up to 8.5 Richter scale.
Around 8500 people returned their allotted flats citing small size and lack of infrastructure. These returned flats were refurbished and sold under 2017 scheme. 7000 apartments were again surrendered within 45 days citing the same reasons.
