The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) on Friday recommended conducting a load test in order to determine the safety of residents in nearby buildings in Vasundhara, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).
On Thursday, a major portion of 4C block adjacent to Pragya and Vartalok societies developed by UP Avas Vikas Parishad caved in. The cave in happened as a result of dug up vacant land, in which due to rains water flowed in. This led the road to cave in.
Nearly 112 families were forced to move out of their flats and spent the night at their friend’s or relative’s place.
“We have taken up measures as per the initial assessment of CRRI. It has asked us to place sandbags at the cave in sites to prevent further damage. The work is already on and taken up by the UP Avas Vikas Parishad and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA),”said VN Singh , chief engineer of authority.
According to the residents a school was to come up around 15years ago, later the plot was given to a private builder. The builder dug up the plot up to three basements levels around seven or eight years ago, some issue came up and work was halted. The plot was lying unattended for years. Several repeated complaints were made but no one paid heed to them. We only want dug up plot to be filled.
