Major Relief To Those Living In High Rise Buildings

The power department decided to provide individual connections to all housing units in high rise by March 2019.

It came as a major relief to those living in high rise buildings and multiplexes. There were several complaints received between builders and residents related to electricity theft and overcharging in the name of backup and maintenance.

Soon builders will be able to install separate electricity connections for all dwelling units in all housing projects that are to be launched. For existing buildings discussions are on about the infrastructure, while builders will be asked to separate all connections, it will not come into effect immediately .

This was decided during a high powered meeting in Lucknow attended by officials of UP electricity regulatory commission (UPERC).

“Once the rules are suitably changed, flat owners will be authorized to directly approach the electricity department to obtain a connection. This will bring the transparency as buyers are directly in the picture,” Rajesh Shay, Secretary General of Noida Federation of Apartment Owners’Association (NOFAA) said.
