Defaulters Asked To Clear Property Tax Dues To Avoid Sealing

Chandigarh municipal commissioner Kamal Kishore Yadav on Thursday issued orders to the 11 commercial property tax evaders to pay their dues.

These defaulters consists of educational institutions, clubs, bhawans and dharamshalas among various others. The list of defaulters include MCM Dav College having due over 56 lakh, GGDSD College with due over 16lakh, Shishu Niketan School with due over 21 lakh, Satya Narain Dharamshala with over 20 lakh, KC Mall and prominent Lion Club are among the defaulters.

Deadline to clear their dues has been extended to July 31, failing which the properties will be sealed. All these commercial and institutional properties carry tax due amounting to Rs 187 crore, which were not cleared after repeated reminders and notices. Yadav has also instructed the property tax branch officials to seal the defaulting properties failing to clear their dues by July 31.
