Indians are investing heavily in properties abroad and it turns out, Dubai is one of the most favourable destinations for investment. Indians bought property worth Rs 42,000 crore in Dubai from January 2016 to June 2017, which also crowned them the top foreign property investors in the region according to Dubai Land Department. This is an increase of Rs 12,000 crore from 2014, when the department recorded Indian buyers investing Rs 30,000 crore that year. The high safety measures and regulated market attracts the Indian buyers. The department officials further informed that "When it comes to renting property in Dubai, the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) has set definitive laws to regulate the relationship between landlord and tenant, and outline each party's roles and responsibilities, to minimize often occurring disputes and misunderstandings”. This type of system provides protection on one hand and ensures minimal interference on the other.
According to the data, the top sector for investment was apartment amounting to more than 33% of the investment, followed by villas and commercial properties.
