After Rajasthan and Maharashtra, the Punjab Revenue Department has announced tatkal booking for registering property. This comes after the success of online registration of sale deeds in 14 districts of the state. The Government said that it has ensured that all glitches have been fixed in the portal used for online registration (National Generic Document Registration System) before the ‘tatkal’ feature’s introduction.
Applying for tatkal registration will cost an additional Rs. 5000 excluding the other facilitation charges. It will be available initially at locations where instances of property registration are higher, for instance, where NRI registration is high. Further, the Department is yet to determine the allocation of slots in each sub-registrar office. People intending to register their property must first create a login on the portal and then proceed with the registration. They can also check the applicable rates.
