The greed for money in man has increased to such an extent that it has compelled him to commit heinous crimes. Murders over property disputes have been rising rapidly. Recently, A 23-year-old woman, Rekha, was set ablaze at her home by her sisters-in-law over a petty property dispute. The police claimed that after victim’s husband, Nagaraj, who owned 4.5 acres land in the Haveri district, died a month ago, his sisters conspired the murder of their deceased brother’s wife in order to take over the property. They carried out the plan when their father was out of the village.
This is not where it ends. Another dispute over money lead to the death of a senior citizen in the Karwar taluk. The old man used to work as a watchman and lived alone. Sindhura Lakshman Valmiki, the accused, allegedly demanded money from the victim, on denial, he attacked and killed the latter on the spot. The accused was arrested later. Criminal tendencies ran in the family of accused above. His brother, Shyam Valmiki was also arrested for cheating a woman for her money, by promising her a government job. Police has been investigating the case.
