Punjab Police arrested a man and his brother in law for killing his brother from Bishenpur village of Doraha in Payal tehsil of Ludhiana district.
The Police informed Harpreet Singh aged 32 years along with his brother in law Simarjeet Singh gave a drug overdose to Ramandeep Singh with the intention of becoming the sole member of the family property and his body was found in Bishenpur village on 14th April, 2018.
Ramandeep had four acres of farm land and was not married and as Harpreet was his only sibling, making him sole beneficiary of Ramandeep property after him. As information provided by Payal Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rashpal Singh Dhindsa, a police complaint was filed by their cousin Jagtar Singh of Alaud, Amloh, pointed the finger of suspicion at Harpreet and Simarjeet. Some documents, cards and the recordings of CCTV cameras installed at the house were missing and Simarjeet claimed that he found the body when he went to his house at 5 a.m. which increased the suspicion.
The Police further informed that Simarjeet, a resident of Kaddo in Doraha was on parole in a drug peddling case. “In the jail, he met Jaswinder Singh of Bhikhi, Maloud and obtained the drug from him, the two tied up drunk Ramandeep and gave him drug overdose on the night of April 13 and later threw his body outside his house.
The DSP informed that about five drug and liquor peddling cases were registered against Simarjeet. The two were arrested from Mallipur bridge on GT Road and a case of murder and disappearance of evidence has been registered.
