The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is going to offer nearly 21,000 flats in its new housing scheme in June 2018. The flats will be offered at Vasant Kunj, Dwarka, Narela, Siraspur and in Rohini areas of Delhi and would comprise of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom space flats. DDA promises that its latest housing scheme would be bigger and better than its previous two schemes. The space allocated to one bedroom unit is 430 sq.ft. unlike its previous scheme where it was 323 sq. ft. and was the main reason for surrender by allottees. In 2017, DDA had put 12,617 flats on offer and received 46,000 applications. But later on 6,500 allottees surrendered the flats because of small size and their location.
Flats having space less than 430 sq. ft. would not be included in Lower Income Group (LIG) bracket but in Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category which will make it more clearer to buyers as to what they are buying. However the surrendered flats would not be included in this year housing scheme. DDA will adjust the surrendered flats by redesigning it and merging two one-bedroom flats into one two-bedroom set.
